Micro Medical Devices, a leader in ophthalmic diagnostic technology, marks more than 20 years of delivering innovative, practical, and portable solutions designed to meet the evolving challenges of modern medicine.
Founded on a simple but powerful belief, that physicians require adaptable technology to address increasingly complex clinical demands, the company has consistently focused on developing tools that enable precise care without the limitations of traditional stationary equipment.
In 2005, Micro Medical Devices introduced its first breakthrough product: a handheld A-Scan device engineered to accurately measure the depth and thickness of the eye’s internal structures using advanced ultrasound technology. At a time when most diagnostic systems were confined to fixed clinical environments, this innovation provided unprecedented mobility without compromising accuracy. The device represented a pivotal shift in ophthalmic diagnostics, offering physicians greater flexibility in delivering high-quality care.
Building on that success, Micro Medical Devices expanded its portfolio to include advanced biometry solutions and VR-based visual field systems, including the VF2000, designed for precision, portability, and ease of use.
Leadership Driven by Technical and Clinical Excellence
Micro Medical Devices’ continued growth and innovation are guided by a leadership team that blends engineering expertise with hands-on clinical insight.
Ramin Hooriani, President and Head of Software Development, brings a strong academic foundation in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics. He earned both his Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science in Digital Signal Processing from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). His deep expertise in signal processing and software architecture has been instrumental in developing precise and reliable ophthalmic diagnostic systems. Under his leadership, software innovation remains central to the company’s commitment to accuracy, portability, and performance.
Rafi Israel, M.D., serves as Medical Director and provides invaluable real-world clinical guidance. A practicing ophthalmologist, Dr. Israel completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in Physics and Mathematics before earning his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University. His dual perspective as both clinician and physicist ensures that each product aligns with the practical demands of patient care while maintaining the highest standards of clinical integrity.
Armen Aynilian, Vice President of Engineering, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). His leadership in engineering and product development supports the company’s continued advancement of innovative diagnostic technologies.
