Canine arthritis is a degenerative condition that results in inflammation of one or more joints and progresses over time if left untreated. The most commonly affected joints include the knee, elbow, shoulder, hip and spinal column. There are various causes of arthritis in dogs such as traumatic injuries, obesity, failure of proper bone development and many others. There are several types of canine arthritis but the most common is osteoarthritis. It affects 1 in 5 adult dogs. The prevalence of osteoarthritis increases with the age of canines.
